Our Story

Hello,

My name is Derrick Kemp, CEO of Kemp’s One Shake, and this is our story. Prior to 2010, my wife and I attended many social gatherings and were asked to prepare meals or barbeque. We found ourselves using other people’s seasonings and making due with what was on hand, but the taste just wasn’t cutting it. In 2010, we began taking a mixture of our own seasonings with us to add more spice and flavor to the food. After all the troubles of carrying around a bag of mixed seasonings to our functions, we had this creative strategy: “Let’s mix all this stuff together!”, and that’s how we got the name, One Shake.

Fast forward, we attended a Jazz gathering where everyone were required to bring their own food/dish. We fried some fish and everyone that were in our group was loving the taste! The surrounding families that were in our area smelled the superb seasoning and wanted a taste. They all were digging the seasoning and the extra crisp to the fish, and were trying to figure out the seasonings that were used. From that point forward, we continued blending for ourselves and other family members. Everywhere we went to cook, we took One Shake with us! From there, we started using One Shake at home and we used it on everything we cooked and realized that it was an “All Purpose” seasoning.

In 2020, we visited my friend in North Carolina and took the bottle with us for cooking - we just knew they were going to request for us to cook. After being there for 3 days and using the One Shake, they fell in love! Later on, my friend called me and ask if I could mass produce One Shake and he would market it - that just shows how much him and his family really enjoyed the food with One Shake. He stated, “One Shake is a winner and you need to get it on the market". I never even thought about mass producing it. I just wanted it for me and my family! My friend kept pushing, so I decided to go out on the limb and mass produce the Kemp’s One Shake all purpose seasoning.

One Shake was blended with time and love and I hope you all enjoy!
